PTA

The PTA is a voluntary group of people who run a number of events throughout the school year, both for fun, and to raise additional funds for the school. Torkington, like all schools, receives it’s allocation of funds from the local education authority and via central government for standard costs such as salaries, building maintenance and other expenditure required for the school to operate on a day-to-day basis. The funds raised by the PTA help the school to provide that little bit extra to support the children's learning.

The activities of the PTA can make a genuine difference to what Torkington Primary School can offer. By definition, every parent of a child attending Torkington Primary School is a member of the PTA by default. We are not an exclusive clique and always welcome new members and new ideas. So if you have an active interest in contributing to your child’s school, please come along to one of our meetings (there’s normally one each half term) where you will be made most welcome. Alternatively, you could volunteer to help out at one of the school events. Please speak to the school office or a member of the PTA if you can help in any way.
