Welcome to Year 6 at Torkington Primary School

Meet the Team

Our teaching team includes Miss Astall (Class Teacher), Mrs Standring (Class Teacher on a Wednesday) and Mrs Millington and Mr Bethell (Teaching Assistants).

To promote reading for pleasure, throughout the year we will read and focus on the following books...

·         The London Eye Mystery - Siobhan Dowd

·         The Boy at the Back of the Class - Onjali Rauf

·         Skellig, My Name is Mina - David Almond

·         Windrush Child, Refugee Boy - Benjamin Zephaniah

·         Stormbreaker (Alex Rider) - Anthony Horowitz

·         Noughts & Crosses, Pig Heart Boy - Malorie Blackman

Important Information

·         We have PE every Monday with Mr Bond and every Friday with Miss Astall so please ensure that PE kits are always in school on these days.

·         Children are encouraged to read daily - Reading books and Reading diaries need to be brought into school every day

·         Every Wednesday Year 6 take part in reading buddies with Reception.

·         Homework is set every Friday and needs to be completed and handed in by the following Thursday. Children must also access Time Table Rockstars (TTRS) every week at home
