Welcome to Year 4 at Torkington Primary School

Meet the Team:

Our teaching team includes Miss Kempton (Class Teacher), Mrs Sykes and Mrs Denton (Teaching Assistants).

To promote reading for pleasure, throughout the year we will read and focus on the following books...

·         The Iron Man, The Iron Woman, Collected poems for children - Ted Hughes

·         Clockwork, The Firework-Makers Daughter, Northern Lights - Philip Pullman

·         The night I met Father Christmas, The boy who made the world disappear - Ben Miller

·         The Time-Travelling Cat, Class two at the zoo - Julia Jarman

·         Planet Omar: Accidental Trouble Magnet, The Musalmans - Zanib Mian

·         I Bet I Can make you laugh, Yapping Away - Joshua Seigal

Important Information

·         We have PE every Monday with Mr Bond and every Friday with Miss Kempton. Please ensure that PE kits are always in school.

·         Children are encouraged to read daily - Reading books and Reading diaries need to be brought into school every day

·         Every Tuesday, Year 4 take part in reading buddies with Year 2.

.         Swimming takes place every Tuesday for the Autumn Term (September - December) - Details will be sent home with more information nearer the time

·         Homework is set every Friday and needs to be completed and handed in by the following Thursday. Children must also access Time Table Rockstars (TTRS) every week at home
