Clubs

At Torkington we offer a wide range of extra curricular clubs. They are provided for our children by school staff and outside agencies. Our aim is to nurture the children's potential and inspire excellence in non academic areas.

Each term we use ParentPay to sign up for and pay for clubs run by school staff (a small contribution per week) which are on Tuesday evenings. For clubs run by outside agencies letters will be sent home with all the relevant information and payment details.

Information on how to sign up  and pay for any clubs run by external companies (Kickstart) will be posted onto the relevant years groups Class Dojo page.

The clubs we are currently offering are:-

Art & Design

Art Club

Our Art Club provides pupils with an extra canvas to explore their creativity beyond the classroom. It is a fantastic opportunity for children to experiment with different mediums and techniques, allowing them to further develop the personal styles and skills documented in their school sketchbooks.

Mini Art Club (KS1)

Designed for our younger learners, Mini Art focuses on developing the foundational fine motor skills and sensory exploration essential for their creative journey. Pupils enjoy a relaxed environment where they can begin to express their ideas through colour, texture, and collaborative projects.

Computing

Coding Club

In Coding Club, pupils take their digital literacy to the next level by building complex programs and troubleshooting logic. It is an ideal space for children to apply the sequencing and data skills learned in lessons to create their own interactive games and animations.

Mini Coding Club (KS1)

Mini Coding introduces our KS1 pupils to the basics of computational thinking through fun, hands-on activities. By exploring simple algorithms and directional language, children build the confidence needed to become the digital creators of the future.

Design and Technology (DT)

DT Club

Our DT Club brings the design cycle to life as pupils research, build, and evaluate their own technical projects. The club encourages children to solve real-world problems through woodworking, joining, and structural design, resulting in high-quality products they can be proud of.

Science

Science Club

Science Club is all about "working scientifically" through "wow" moments and hands-on experiments. Pupils are encouraged to ask big questions and make reasoned predictions, fostering a natural curiosity and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Music

Performance Club

Performance Club offers pupils a vibrant stage to build their confidence and express themselves through the arts. Whether through drama or music, children learn the value of collaboration and rehearsal as they work toward polished, high-energy performances.

Physical Education

Keep Active Club

Our Keep Active club is dedicated to improving the physical literacy and wellbeing of every pupil. Through a variety of games and high-energy tasks, children develop their coordination, teamwork, and a lifelong appreciation for staying healthy and fit.
