Welcome to Year 1 at Torkington Primary School
Meet the Team:
Our teaching team includes Mrs Guiggari (Class Teacher Mon- Weds) and Mrs George (Class Teacher Weds - Fri), Miss Hutchinson and Miss Casey (Teaching Assistants).
To promote reading for pleasure, throughout the year we will read and focus on the following books...
· The Gruffalo, Stick Man - Julia Donaldson
· Supertato, Barry the Fish with fingers - Sue Hendra
· The Jolly Postman, Burglar Bill - Allan Ahlberg
· Barbara Throws a Wobbler - Nadia Shireen
· Oliver's Elephant - Lou Peacock & Matt Hunt
· Gorilla, Voices in the Park - Anthony Browne
Important Information
· We have PE every Wednesday with Mr Bond and every Friday with Mrs George so please ensure that PE kits are always in school on these days.
· Reading books will be changed twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday) Please ensure children bring their reading books and reading diaries into school every day. Books will only be changed if there is a comment from home in the reading diary.
· Every Thursday Year 1 take part in reading buddies with Year 5.
