History Progression of Knowledge & Skills

Year 2 enjoyed their class trip to the Hat Works Museum this half term to support their learning about the History of the Local Area. The children learnt all about Victorian Manchester in their topic, including the industrial revolution and the importance of factories. The children enjoyed seeing the original machines that were used to make hats in Stockport 100 years ago, as well as learning the process by which hats are made and how the technology developed over time. They were also able to try on a variety of hats which they enjoyed immensely!

Year 6 recently enjoyed an engaging local history session delivered by Stockport County Community Trust. They explored the club's heritage and its link to Stockport's development since 1883, using primary sources to see how our community has changed. It was a brilliant way to bring the past to life and develop their skills as local historians."

The children had a captivating afternoon during our Prehistoric Britain workshop! They listened well as they stepped back in time with an engaging storyteller.

Hands-on history came alive as children sculpted traditional clay pots using plasticine to explore ancient craftsmanship.
Some then eagerly excavated buried artifacts from a sand tray, discovering the thrill of archaeology through the immersive experience, with some expressing that they wanted to become archaeologists themselves!
