Welcome to Reception at Torkington Primary School

Meet the Team:

Our teaching team includes Mrs Pietrzak (Class Teacher), Mrs Hollinshead, Miss Casey, Miss Dean and Mrs Shafiq (Teaching Assistants throughout the week).

Our Class Texts used throughout this years topics are:

·         Fairytales - Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk

.         Colour Monster

·         Festivals & Celebrations topic - Focuses on books around Bonfire night, Remembrance Day, weddings and Christmas

.         Winter Poetry

.         Julia Donaldson Topic - What the ladybird heard, Tiddler

·         Dinosaur Topic - Tyrannosaurus Drip and other non-fiction dinosaur texts

·         Animal and Plants Topic - Grandads Island, The extraordinary Gardener, Aaargh Spider

·         Space and travel/transport Topic - Bob The Man on the Moon, How to catch a star, Naughty bus and other non-fictional texts

Important Information

·         We have PE every Wednesday with Mr Bond and every Thursday with Mrs Pietrzak so please ensure that PE kits are always in school on these days.

·         Reading books will be changed twice a week (Monday and Thursday) Please ensure children bring their reading books and reading diaries into school every day. Books will only be changed if there is a comment from home in the reading diary.

·         Every Tuesday Reception take part in reading buddies with Year 6. Sharing Stories book will be swapped on this day with their buddies

.         Homework is set every Friday and handed in on the following Thursday
