Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

Welcome to Torkington's Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Area, please explore the provisions that we have to offer.

Hello my name is Mrs Pietrzak and I am the SENCo. at Torkington Primary School. At Torkington, we are committed to high achievement for all, supporting pupils and families in ensuring the very best of opportunities are available to them. We firmly believe that all children have an entitlement to be educated alongside their peers. As an inclusive community, we are deeply committed to removing the barriers to learning and participation that can hinder or exclude individual pupils, or groups of pupils. Inspired by our Growth Mindset visions and values, equality of opportunity is a reality for all our children within school and our dedicated team work relentlessly to ensure that all children have the right to a fulfilling learning experience, regardless of need. Our up to date Accessibility Plan and Information describes how we strive to achieve this.

Our SEN School Information Report aims to describe how we provide support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Click on any of the links below to view our school’s specific provision across a wide range of additional needs.

Wider Provision:

Children access targeted provision in the form of clubs at various times of the day; these include play leaders at lunch time, forest schools and drama club. These are primarily designed with individual children’s needs in mind e.g. the development of social skills, with the ultimate goal of preparing the children with purposeful skills for life.

Below there are links to support and resources that cover all areas of need. If you need any further advise or support please do not hesitate to contact me on send@torkington.stockport.sch.uk or 0161 483 2188.
