We have worked with Robin Sheehan and Tony Seager (eQe) to build the Forest School experience into our curriculum. Each half term a different class takes part in a 6 week programme to develop their learning outdoors. All our teachers have received a ‘Forest Crew’ certificate which allows them to use the outdoors to enhance the children learning experiences.
Forest Schools is a fantastic experience for all the children with the main aims of each session to develop the key skills of teamwork, cooperation, resilience, facing new challenges and developing self-confidence.
“Working with the children at Torkington has been fantastic. Every class has been so responsive to the ideas we have developed and it has been exciting to see how well the school has embraced the concept of outdoor learning. The teachers have really engaged in the activities and I am confident they will build on their learning to ensure the ideas form a core part of the enriched curriculum at Torkington Primary school. It really helps to underpin the schools vision of nurturing potential, inspiring excellence.” (Quote from Robin Sheehan – Forest School Practitioner)
