On Wednesday 28th February we were visited by Michael Churm, a British Paralympic sprinter. Through his career he was consistently ranked in the world top 10 and has won various medals, including a Silver Medal at the 2000 Sydney Paralympics in the 4 x 100 relay.
On Thursday 18th January our lacrosse team took part in the Stockport Schools Lacrosse Tournament at Hazel Grove High School. They were the only team to win all four of their games, winning the tournament and securing a place at the Finals in February.
On Tuesday 5th December our Year 6 children joined Year 6 children from other Primary schools in Hazel Grove in a Christmas celebration at Norbury Church. The theme for the performances was linked to Manchester Arena Attack. They gave a wonderful performance of David Guetta's 'Titanium'. The lyrics of the song had been cleverly rewritten to create our own Christmas themed version.
As always, the children were amazing in their resilience and sporting achievements. From the youngest children in our nursery through to year 6, all pupils enthusiastically competed in a wide variety of competitive events. We are very grateful to the large number of parents and grandparents who turned up to support the children and a huge thank you to the staff for all their hard work in organising the event. We are also extremely grateful to the coaches from Stockport County who helped throughout the day.
On Monday 15th May PC Palmer and PC Stott (from Hazel Grove Police Station) joined Prison Office, Paul McGovern to talk to the children about stranger danger, internet safety, drug awareness, stop and search and how to use 999. They spent the day with us carrying out interactive workshops, informing the children of the many issues they are faced with on a daily basis and brought the police dogs to meet us too!
